RICHMOND, Va. – Troutman Pepper’s Regulatory Practice Group, one of the country’s oldest practices dedicated solely to defending against enforcement actions from state attorneys general and other government authorities, launched today its regulatory law blog, Regulatory Oversight.

Regulatory Oversight will provide in-depth analysis into regulatory actions by various state and federal regulatory authorities, including state attorneys general and other state administrative agencies, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Contributors to the blog will include attorneys with multiple specialties, including regulatory enforcement, litigation, and compliance.

Troutman Pepper Partner Ashley Taylor, Jr., who helped lead the launch of the blog, said: “Too often, we see businesses face scrutiny from state attorneys general that could have been anticipated. The goal of Regulatory Oversight is to provide businesses operating in highly-regulated industries with practical insights, while emphasizing the need to be proactive.”

Regulatory Oversight will bring to bear our unmatched understanding of today’s legal and regulatory environment,” said Stephen Piepgrass, one of the co-founders of the blog. “As we continue to see more coordinated investigations by regulators, it’s clear that businesses need to understand the interrelated nature of the states’ regulatory authorities and how they interact with federal regulators.”

Troutman Pepper’s Regulatory Practice Group includes one of the oldest and most well-respected state attorneys general practices in the nation. The Chambers-rated state attorneys general practice includes three former state solicitors general, four former deputy attorneys general, a former deputy solicitor general, three former assistant attorneys general, and attorneys with a wide variety of experience in federal agencies. The practice, which includes two attorneys in the top two Chambers rating bands, has handled investigations involving all 50 states and the federal government.

Clients rely on Troutman Pepper’s Regulatory Practice Group’s unique ability to anticipate the likely course of an investigation and to develop solutions to help streamline the investigation, from initiation through conclusion. The team has helped both privately held and publicly traded companies navigate investigations by state attorneys general and federal regulators across a variety of industry sectors.
